FAQ
Everything you need to know.
Aurora has no rigid age limit: anyone who can read and write confidently can play – children have great fun here too.
There is only one thing we insist on: we do not send a group under 16 out on their own with our equipment. At least one adult must come along, take charge of the equipment and bring it back. That is a supervision rule, not an age limit.
A younger sibling is of course welcome to come along. They do not count as a player and are not charged – but please keep an eye on them.
Aurora takes place outdoors – that is part of it. Light drizzle or a bit of wind is not a reason for us to cancel, and we ask you to see it the same way. Just wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes and bring an umbrella if needed.
Please check the forecast yourself in good time. Up to 48 hours before your booking you can rebook or cancel free of charge. That is exactly the window in which the decision is yours.
If seriously bad weather is forecast for your slot – heavy rain or a storm – we will find a solution together: another date or an indoor room. Please get in touch early. If we see a severe weather warning ourselves, we will of course contact you – but we cannot promise it, because we are not on site all day.
What unfortunately does not work: cancelling shortly before the start because it happens to be drizzling or a little windy. By then we have long since travelled in and kept the slot free for you – for us that is a complete loss.
If you switch to an indoor room: our indoor games are priced by number of people, room and day of the week, so they cost different amounts – usually more than Aurora. This is not an extra charge: nothing is paid in advance with us anyway. After the game you simply pay the price of the room you chose. We will tell you what that is beforehand, so you can decide in peace.
The difficulty of our puzzles is perceived very differently. People with a lot of escape-game experience approach the challenge quite differently than those trying it for the first time. Our game masters, however, are very experienced at giving you just the right amount of hints – so it becomes an enjoyable and manageable challenge for every group.
With younger groups we help out a little more generously with hints; for especially fast groups we unlock extra bonus puzzles during the game. So we always adapt to your pace.
Since you’re only out and about outdoors, we ourselves don’t have a restroom option available for you.
The time allotted per tour allows for a few minutes of short breathers here and there. So you do have the chance to quickly grab a drink or an ice cream to go along the way.
The maximum playing time is 2 hours. Because of this, longer breaks or interruptions aren’t possible. Otherwise you’d run into the groups following you, and we wouldn’t be able to guarantee a smooth schedule. Our game masters will do their best to help you finish comfortably within this timeframe.
Our game masters can always track the location of the tablet you’ll receive at the start. They can also see which solutions you enter.
However, you are neither watched nor listened to during the tour.
Aurora is designed for 2 to 6 people. Seven or eight in one set is possible, but we will say honestly: some of you will barely be able to take an active part, because everyone needs the tablet, the clues and the props at the same time.
From that size we recommend a second set – we have two complete sets. Two teams can start at the same time and even compete against each other. Just send us an email and we will sort out the details.
The most important thing is to call us as soon as possible to let us know. You can reach us at +49 30 4397929548.
If you’re at most 15 minutes late, you can still play in any case, though you’ll have a bit less time available. To keep you within the time limit, we may need to skip a few puzzles if necessary.
If you’re more than 15 minutes late, we reserve the right to let your tour lapse without a replacement. Otherwise, there’s a risk that the groups following you would be affected in their own game schedule. That said, we will of course try to find a solution and still make the game possible for you — potentially in a shorter version.
So please be sure to get in touch as soon as possible if you can foresee being late. If we don’t hear from you, your tour will lapse in any case after 15 minutes of absence.
You can cancel or move to another available slot free of charge up to 48 hours before the start. Just send us an email with your preferred new date.
Within the last 48 hours this is unfortunately no longer possible: we have reserved the slot for you and planned our journey in. Anyone who does not show up without cancelling will be invoiced for the game.
Nothing is paid in advance with us – you pay after the game, on site.
Aurora takes 120 minutes. Depending on how quickly you solve the puzzles and how briskly you walk, it can also be a little shorter.
Please still allow plenty of time: the briefing and returning the equipment come on top of that.
No problem, dogs are very welcome.
That said, we’d appreciate getting the puzzle items back as free of dog slobber as possible.
Yes! The tour can also be played by wheelchair users. Feel free to bring wheelchairs, strollers, or your grandparents’ walker — as long as you can cover just under 2 kilometers through nature with it.
You don’t always have to know everything in detail — a little surprise is a nice thing too!
But if you’ve already painstakingly read through all the questions and answers and are still unsure, here are a few more details (Minor Spoiler Alert☝️):
We’ll meet you at the starting point, where we’ll briefly explain what it’s all about and answer any questions that come up. This is also where you’ll receive a tablet as well as your first clue.
After that, you’re on your own for a while. Armed with your tablet and clue, you’ll search for your first destination. There you’ll find further items in a bag, which you can use to solve the puzzles that follow.
The tablet is your compass and decoder. It helps you navigate through the city and tells you whether a code you’ve entered is correct.
Once you arrive at a puzzle station, a number of items will be available to you. Matching the items to the correct stations is one of the many challenges you’ll need to master.
But that’s not all: various elements standing around will also help you find the solution to the puzzle. Most important of all, though, will be teamwork. Puzzle it out together, exchange ideas, and complement each other! Everyone brings different skills to the table, and that’s exactly what you’ll need in the end to crack all the puzzles.
After the last puzzle, you can pat each other on the back, because the roughly 3-kilometer-long scavenger hunt will have been tricky, and you’ll have mastered it together. You can then top off the adventure with a selfie, have the photo sent to you by email afterward, and take a look at your results.
Once this part is done as well, you’ll meet your game master again and hand over the items — knowing full well that it’s sometimes a whole lot of fun to get your gray matter moving and work together as a team.
